NYC Woman’s Dog Survives Being Shot in the Mouth by Ex-Boyfriend Who Beat Her …
Article from ABC News:

A year-old pit bull named Honey survived being shot point blank in the mouth by her owner’s ex-boyfriend during an argument at her Brooklyn apartment in New York City, according to Honey’s owner and a criminal court complaint.

Honey’s owner, Asha Stringfield, 24, told ABC News today that she has a restraining order against her 47-year-old ex-boyfriend, Kenneth White, who she said attacked her after he got annoyed about the food she had at her house and jealous about another male friend of hers. The restraining order was confirmed by court documents obtained by ABC News.

White “repeatedly punched” Stringfield in her head and face, grabbed her by the throat, pulled her off the bed by her hair and pointed a gun to her face, asking her to give him “two reasons not to shoot” her, according to a criminal court complaint filed in Brooklyn Criminal Court.

Dog walker loses woman’s pit bull after meltdown
Article from New York Post:

It’s every dog owner’s nightmare.

An East Village woman entrusted her beloved pooch to a neighborhood dog walker while she was on a business trip — and he lost the pet in the cold, she told The Post on Tuesday.

“I’m absolutely devastated. I want my dog back. I seem like I’m holding it together, but I’m not. I’m on the verge of a complete breakdown,” said Morgan Bogle, 33, who owns a vegan fashion company.

Bogle said she trusted her longtime dog walker to care for her sweet pit bull mix, Sugar — a rescue animal she adopted in The Bronx four years ago — while she flew to London on business last week.

But the man flipped out while she was away, kicking the front door of her apartment Monday while shouting and swearing, witnesses said.

“He was screaming, ‘F–k you! Let me in the f–king house now!’ ” a witness said, adding that Sugar was nowhere in sight.

“He seemed manic . . . I told him, ‘You’re acting like a lunatic.’ He was muttering stuff, but it wasn’t coherent…………………continues on New York Post

‘Dogs in Cars’ captures joys of being a dog
Article from Houston Chronicle:

For many dogs, happiness is a car ride.

You can watch their delight as their ears flap in the wind; noses inhaling a symphony of smells.

Los Angeles photojournalist Lara Jo Regan captures this simple pleasure in her new book, “Dogs in Cars” (Countryman Press, $ 19.95).

“I used to watch dogs hanging outside of car windows when I was in a traffic jam. It’s mood elevating to see how happy they are,” Regan said. “I call it pooch Prozac.”

To get the shots, Regan created a device made of hiking gear and photo supplies that suspends her by a harness outside of the car so she can snap dogs in their joy-ride wonderment.

She photographed dozens of dogs riding in cars, starting with pets of family members and friends. Then she turned to Craigslist for four-legged models, and she even scoped out Los Angeles dog parks. At one park underneath L.A.’s famous Hollywood sign, Regan approached dog owners in true Hollywood fashion: “‘I can make your dog a star,” she’d say jokingly.

But in reality, all of the dogs featured in her book are stars.

How to photograph your furry friend

Lara Jo Regan advises leaving it to a professional to snap photos of your furry friend hanging out of a car window – if in fact you allow your pet that potentially dang…………………continues on Houston Chronicle

Utah man demands police officer be fired for fatally shooting dog in fenced …
Article from New York Daily News:

Facebook Geist, pictured, lived in the back yard, but was never known to be aggressive, despite a Salt Lake City police officer’s claim, Sean Kendall says.

A devastated Salt Lake City man wants the police officer who shot his dog dead fired from the force.

Sean Kendall’s 2-year-old Weimaraner, Geist, was killed last week after officers entered the man’s backyard during the search for a missing nonverbal 3-year-old boy.

The 110-pound pooch approached the unidentified officer “in an aggressive manner” and “the officer, in turn, shot the dog,” police said in a statement after the shooting June 18.

The missing boy was found at his home asleep about 30 minutes later.

“The department regrets the unfortunate outcome of this incident,” the statement read.
